Childhood should be a carefree time of high energy and engaging curiosity, allowing the youngster to grow and develop naturally in body, mind and spirit. Sadly for some children it is a time fraught with ill-health. Persistent ear-aches, asthma, eczema etc, may mean frequent visits to the doctor.
Some children find life difficult in other ways, they may feel overly shy in new situations or are too easily pushed around by other children. Others become frustrated and hyperactive with mood swings and temper tantrums that disrupt family life and leave them feeling at odds with those around them.
When your child is tired or run down, perhaps after several weeks at school, they are much less likely to recover rapidly from illness. What began as an acute infection may linger on or recur, becoming worse each time your child is stressed or over-tired.
Anyone whose child has suffered from recurrent symptoms knows how frustrating they can be. Very often we end up thinking that the child is stuck with them. Fortunately this is not the case: all they need is something to boost their vital energies into producing a response that gets rid of the problem once and for all.
My practice is ‘child friendly’ with toys and art materials in my comfortable consulting room. For children under 12 years I expect the first consultation to take up to an hour and follow-ups are usually 15 – 30 minutes.
